FAQ

How do I enter?

All submissions must be entered online. You can then choose to pay by check or by credit card. When sending your sample media or screenshots, also send a master list of all entries by category (that list is created for you online, simply print a copy), attach a label to each entry and send to:

Orbit Studios
Attn: The Show
3805 Washington Ave N
Minneapolis, MN 55412

What determines eligibility?

All materials must have been created in the state of Minnesota and published/broadcast/posted/ distributed between the dates of June 9, 2007 and June 6, 2008. Entries may originate from any individual or organization that has created, produced or directed the material. However, only participating agencies will be given credit.

For student entries, all work must be produced in Minnesota by students who are or were enrolled in a recognized Minnesota program during the before mentioned eligibility dates.

A committee of individuals appointed by The Show Committee will review all the entries and will have the authority to question, reclassify or reject any entry where eligibility is in doubt. Their decision is final. The Show Committee reserves the right to request authentication of any entry.

I just graduated last year and work in the industry now, can I still submit as a student?

If you were a student at a recognized Minnesota school during the time you created the work, then yes.

What if I want to submit to several categories?

Each entry may be entered in multiple categories and elements of entries, such as illustration, music or photography may be entered separately in those categories. The exception is any Cause Marketing (Pro Bono) entry. They can only be entered in the Cause Marketing category.

What are the entry fees?

$85 for each single entry and $95 for each campaign. Student entries are $30 for each single entry and $40 for each campaign. Checks should be made payable to AD FED/The Show. Credit card is preferred, but if you pay by check, make sure that the amount on your check matches the total on the master list that you submit with your entries. You can print a master list by going to your account. Remember, you cannot win if you do not pay.

What's the deadline?

Please submit all entries by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 6th, 2008. Absolutely NO EXTENSIONS.

When will I know if I made it into The Show?

Those with accepted entries will be notified at the end of June.

What's the automatic release?

All entries accepted for exhibition may be used in any and all presentations authorized by the Advertising Federation of Minnesota. By submitting entries to The Show, the entrant grants permission to show, duplicate or play the entries as the above deems appropriate. The Advertising Federation of Minnesota cannot, under any circumstances, accept responsibility for loss or damage to work submitted and will not return any items submitted.

How do I prepare my entry for judging?

First, all submissions must be registered online. You can then choose to pay by credit card (preferred) or check (payable to AD FED/The Show). Single entries are $85 and campaigns are $95. Student single entries are $30 and campaigns are $40. Mixed media is $95. After you've registered your submissions, send payment (if by check), a master list of all entries, and follow the instructions below regarding submitting the sample media. You can print a master list and labels from your online account.

Depending on the category, the sample media will either be submitted online, on videotape, or mounted (foam core, matte board, etc.) For each mounted piece, the proof or tearsheet must be trimmed with no more than a two-inch margin around the live area. Spray-mount the creative to the front, then spray-mount label to the back. If your entry is bulky, valuable or larger than 20" x 30 please submit a 11 x 17 hardcopy and list the actual size on the front of the entry.

All categories (except for digital media) will require a label taped to the back of the entry (labels can be printed from your account.) With your submissions, include a master list of all entries. Digital and media entries do not need a screen grab unless submitted in the mixed media category. See individual categories for more specific details.

See categories for a full treatment of each media type.

How are the digital media categories judged?

All interactive submissions will be reviewed by interactive experts. Those entries that make it into The Show will then be judged along with all other entries over judging weekend.

And I can do all of this online?

Well... almost. You can enter and pay for each entry online. Then you can print one label and attach them to your sample media needs to be mailed or delivered. You can also print out your complete master list of entries, including your total cost, and submit credit card payment online or pay by check. Of course, you still have to send in your entry for judging. See categories for a full treatment of each media type.
