She is best known for being the brainchild of one of the most popular Super Bowl ads in the last 20 years (Honda’s “Matthew’s Day Off”). Additionally, she has worked on brands like Honda, Farmers Insurance, ampm, Intuit, and TikTok, to name a few. Her thought leadership has been published by The One Club and she is an active member of the See It, Be It initiative, a Cannes Lions program that helps to accelerate gender equality in advertising. She was a judge for the 2020 AICP and IAC Awards, and was named one of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Elite Marketers for 2020.

Colin is “literally” the most in demand freelance copywriter across the country. His work has won a D&AD Yellow Pencil, multiple One Shows, AICP, Graphis Platinum, Radio Mercurys, Obies, Webbys and published in “all of the” CA Annuals. He’s also “so extra” as Archive Magazine’s #1 ranked U.S.-based writer of the decade (2010-2020).

“You totally won’t believe”…but he spent the first half of his career in Minneapolis, starting out at Best Buy and Carmichael Lynch, followed by “jaw-dropping” jobs at Fallon, Hunt Adkins and Colle+McVoy. Soon after going solo, he became the first freelancer to win Best Of at The Show, and is still the only superhero movie character to win top honors from both AdFed MN and AIGA Minnesota.

Colin has judged Graphis, Webbys, Mercurys and will be a One Show juror this year. After moves to San Francisco, L.A. and Chicago, he’s now based in Brooklyn with #TheBestDogEver.

Marthinus Johannes Coetzee Van Loggerenberg

Assistant Professor of Advertising, University of San Francisco

Marthinus is an advertising professor at the University of San Francisco. He obtained his PhD in brand strategy, focusing on authentic narratives in branded entertainment. He lectures copywriting, creative strategy and persuasion theory and facilitates portfolio creation and internships. His research focus is on branded content and word of mouth marketing. Prior to joining USF he worked for 20 years in industry, that includes leading positions across a number of roles: strategic planning at international digital and traditional advertising agencies such as FCB and BBDO, branded entertainment production for national broadcast television, advertising and marketing manager roles at big brand national retailers, as well as private consulting for both corporate and nonprofit. Marthinus also headed up the brand and business leadership department at the Vega School of Brand Leadership in South Africa. He is a keen traveler, published writer, film fanatic, wannabe foodie and Basset dad.
